DENTAL IMPLANTS ESTIMATE OF COSTS

The cost of a consultation is $170.  If you have a referral and a Medicare card, you will be able to receive a partial rebate from Medicare, which is approximately 40% of the fee.  You may also receive an on the spot rebate from your private health insurer.

A rough estimate of Dr John McHugh's surgical fees for this procedure are approximately $2800 for each implant placement.  The cost typically reduces as the number of implants required increases, and we would be able to provide a clearer quote upon consultation.

There are 2 different surgery options:

Option 1: 1st and 2nd stage undertaken together

This option is appropriate where surgical candidates have ideal bone quality and density (which would be determined by Dr McHugh at your consultation).

The first stage is implant placement and second stage of the procedure, being placement of the healing abutment, is undertaken at the same time.  The healing abutment is placed onto the implant to allow the gum to heal around it, giving a nice shape for the final stage.

The final stage, being the crown placement, is undertaken three months following the healing abutment placement by your dentist or prosthodontist, therefore you will need to obtain an estimate for this stage from them.

Option 2: 1st and 2nd stage undertaken separately

This option is appropriate where surgical candidates do not have sufficient bone quality and density (which would be determined by Dr McHugh at your consultation).

The first stage is implant placement.

The second stage is typically undertaken 3 months later after the implant is placed to allow the implant to integrate with the bone.

Following implant placement, a cover screw will be placed onto the implant, and the implant will be buried under the gum, allowing maximum integration time for patients with low bone quality and density.   The second stage is placement of the healing abutment, where the cover screw is removed and the healing abutment is placed onto the implant to allow the gum to heal around it, giving a nice shape for the final stage.

The final stage, being the crown placement, is undertaken  two to three weeks following the healing abutment placement by your dentist or prosthodontist, therefore you will need to obtain an estimate for this stage from them.

All aftercare is included in our surgical fees quote.  We will be able to provide you with an exact quote following a consultation with Dr McHugh, where he will work with you to create a treatment plan tailored to achieving your desired outcomes.

Additionally, some components of the surgery may be covered by private healthcare.  If you would like to ascertain whether you are eligible for a rebate, please quote item number 684 (1st stage) and 691 (2nd stage) to your insurer, (if applicable), and they should be able to advise you if you are eligible for any rebates for the surgical fee.
