The cost of a consultation with Dr McHugh is $170, however, if you are able to obtain a referral from your GP, we would be happy to bulk bill the consultation for you instead through Medicare. Please note that a referral is required if you proceed with surgery and wish to claim any surgical rebates through Medicare or your Health Fund.

As a rough guide, uninsured patients typically pay a total of $17,000 to $22,400 for the surgery.
If you do have private health coverage, your out of pocket costs may be as little as your policy excess plus anaesthetic fees.
This fee is comprised of three components:
A rough estimate of Dr John McHugh's surgical fees for this procedure are approximately $9000 - $10,000. This fee may attract rebates through Medicare and private health insurance. If you would like to ascertain whether you are eligible for these rebates, please quote item number 30177 to Medicare and your insurer. All aftercare and a compression garment is included in our surgical fees quote.
If you have private health insurance, this fee may be fully covered or as little as your hospital excess. You will need to ascertain your hospital coverage directly with your insurer. If you do not have private health insurance, the hospital fee is roughly $6000 - $10,000, depending on the length of time your surgery takes.
A rough estimate of the anaesthetic fee for this procedure is approximately $2000 - $2400, depending on the length of time your surgery takes. This fee is also partly claimable through private health insurance and Medicare. Patients typically receive just under 50% of the anaesthetic fee back from Medicare.
